IB Middle Years Programme MYP4 - MYP5 (13-15 Years)
The International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme at HPC International School is aimed at students from 13 to 15 years of age.
They can directly join MYP4 (usually grade 9) and/or MYP5 (usually grade 10) or previously study in our MYP0 and MYP1 classes.
What makes us special
Our school places great importance on student-led learning based on inquiry and action. The students’ interests and prior knowledge are at the center of the learning process. Skill-based teaching helps them understand how to learn and become eager life-long learners.

The basic idea of IB MYP: https://vimeo.com/140759548
Our modern library offers a wide selection of books and resources - mainly in English and German, but also in many other languages. A qualified librarian supports the students learning.
At International School we value
- Project- and hands-on learning - students acquire knowledge through their own experiences
- Transdisciplinary units - content is not isolated, but are conveyed in a larger context
- teaching high-level digital skills - this includes data management, media literacy and self-management skills.
Subjects
Thanks to small class sizes with a maximum of 21 students, we are able to support each child individually. All lessons are taught entirely in English, while all students also learn German—either Language and Literature for native speakers or German as a Foreign Language. Our intercultural community of students and teachers from around the world creates an open and inspiring learning environment.
- English/German Language and Literature
- German/English Language Acquisition
- Individuals and societies (History and Geography and how these subjects are related)
- Combined sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Physics and understanding how these sciences are related to each other)
- Mathematics and extended mathematics
- Design (digital and product design)
- Personal Project
- Service as action

Parent Engagement and School Community
We place great importance on involving parents in school life. At meet-and-greet evenings, school events, and through our parent focus group, they gain insight into our educational approach and learn how to best support their child.
To strengthen the sense of community among students, we offer a buddy program where students in Grades 9 and 10 mentor the youngest students, helping them settle in more easily.
